Conservatory of Motion Pictures Supplemental Application for Fall 2010
Admission to the program is highly competitive, designed only for qualified applicants with a clear passion and demonstrable talent for visual storytelling.
All applicants must submit:

A completed Chapman University and Dodge College Supplemental application form

A personal statement describing why you want to go to film school

A creative/scholarly portfolio list

A series of creative/scholarly writing assignments including:

A dramatic scene/sample of scholarly writing
-
A description of a transformational moment of his/her life (maximum two pages)

A description of his/her favorite film (maximum two pages)

Directing and Screenwriting programs are also required to submit either a Short Film Screenplay or a Feature Length Screenplay
MFA applicants will have to indicate their intended specialization (first and second choice): Director, Cinematographer, Producer, Screenwriter, Editor, Production Designer and Sound Designer, or joint MBA/MFA in Film and Television Producing.
All applicants subsequently may have to submit support material according to their indicated specialization. Supporting material will be reviewed, followed by a personal interview or if not possible, a telephone interview with the finalists.
For those MFA Film Production applicants students who can demonstrate mastery of fundamental filmmaking skills through a portfolio of produced work or an undergraduate degree in film production, we will consider waiving the first year of fundamentals and send you directly into a two-year, production-driven Conservatory.
