Festivals & Competitions

Our students at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts are not just working on projects for class, but they are working to build their professional resumes. Through festivals and competitions, Dodge College students are showing off their work around the world.

Here at Dodge College, we have our very own film festival expert to help students get their film into some of the most prestigious festivals in the world. Derek Horne has over 10 years of experience working with festivals, and is a great resource for students. He meets with every student who wants to submit their film to festivals!

When it comes to festivals, we are everywhere. There have been students who were featured in huge festivals like Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca and Telluride, as well as prestigious local festivals like Palm Springs, LA International Short Film Festival, and Santa Barbara. Internationally our students’ films have been shown at Clermont-Ferrand (France), Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Short Shorts (Tokyo).

There are also opportunities to compete in competitions outside of festivals. You may have seen a Chapman student’s grand prize Coca Cola commercial before a movie, or their award-winning Scion music video. There is also a chance to participate in craft competitions, and win an award from the DGA or ASC like our students have.

There are always many ways to get involved and participate in one of these amazing opportunities!
